JOSEPH SCATURRO, Railroad Flag Man
Joseph Scaturro of 339 Warburton Ave., Hastings-on-Hudson, a resident of that village 40 years and retired flag man with the
New York Central Railroad, died yesterday at Grasslands Hospital. He was 88 and had been ill two months.
Mr. Scaturro came to the United States from his native Italy 62 years ago and in 1902 married the former Sarah Ciulla in
New York Gty. She died nine years ago.
In Italy, where he was born at Sicca, he was a stonemason and served .with the Italian Navy. He was a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Ignatius Scaturro. Mr. Scaturro retired from the New York Central at 65 after 41 years employment. He was a
communicant of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church in Hastings.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Philip (Jennie) DeNardo of Yonkers: Mrs (Josephine) Hitt of
Lemon Grove, Calif.; Mrs. Rose Vitale, Hastings; Anthony T. Scaturro of Dobbs Ferry, and John of Brooklyn; a brother
James of Hoboken, N. J.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Indelicata and Mrs. Gussie Chloflo, both of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren. A third sister, Mrs. Lena Barlo of New York, died Sunday.
