A grocery merchant in Hastings for 30 years, Vincenzo Montalbano of 55
Main St, that village, died last night in St. John's Riverside Hospital,
after an illness of two weeks. He was fifty-seven. Born in Sciacca,
Italy, he came to the United States 40 years ago and settled in Hastings,
where he operated a grocery store at 489 Warburton Avenue. A widower,
his wife was the former Nancy Cuilla. Surviving are two sons, Leo of
Yonkers, and Anthony of Hastings; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Connola
of Yonkers, and Miss Mary Montalbano of Hastings, and three sisters,
Mrs. B. A. Chiaaffo of West New York, N.J., Mrs. Gaetano Soldano of
New York City, and Mrs. Vincenza Maniscalco in Italy. The funeral will
be held from the Baker Memorial Funeral Home, 532 Broadway, Hastings,
Thursday at 9:30 A.M. A requiem mass will be said in St. Matthew's Church,
of which he was a communicant, at 10 A.M. and burial will take place in
Mount Hope Cemetery.
